The consistent practice

We often say that persistently practicing Qigong with proper guidance for 100 days will open up the microcosmic orbit. However, the 100 days is not the endpoint. It is a milestone where we re-adjust the focus of our lives, integrating the health of the body, clarity of the mind, and tranquility of the soul. Therefore, the 100 days mark the beginning of a life where we let our hearts guide us, redirecting our pursuits inward instead of seeking external validation, which often leads us in circles without forward progress.

In any practice, whether it is 长功 (progress in the discipline), 积功 (building up capabilities), or 出功 (reaching achievements), consistent effort over time is required. Just like in any field, such as painting, learning a musical instrument, or progressing from elementary school to university, diligent and earnest study and practice are necessary to become a master.

Hard work never fails those with a determined heart.

The Holistic Journey: Good Health, Inner Peace, and Qigong Cultivation

In the pursuit of a fulfilling and balanced life, individuals often find themselves navigating a path that intertwines physical health, inner peace, and the ancient art of Qigong cultivation. These three factors are interconnected, creating a holistic approach to well-being that addresses the body, mind, and spirit.

**1. Good Health: The Foundation of a Vibrant Life

Physical Well-being:

Good health is the cornerstone of a vibrant and active life. Physical well-being allows individuals to engage in daily activities with ease, fostering a sense of vitality. Regular Qigong exercise, a balanced diet, and proper rest contribute to optimal physical health, supporting the body's ability to resist illnesses and maintain peak performance.

Mental Health:

The importance of good health extends beyond the physical realm. Mental health is intricately linked to overall well-being. Adopting healthy lifestyle practices positively influences cognitive function, emotional stability, and stress management. A sound mind in a healthy body is the essence of a resilient and flourishing life.

Prevention of Diseases:

Proactive health practices, such as regular and consistent Qigong practice. By fostering awareness and adopting healthy habits, individuals can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, enhancing both the quality and longevity of life.

2. Inner Peace: A Tranquil Harbor in Life's Storms

Stress Reduction:

Inner peace is the antidote to the stresses of modern life. It involves cultivating a state of mental and emotional calmness, free from anxiety and worry. Practices like mindfulness and meditation contribute to stress reduction, fostering a peaceful inner environment that is conducive to overall well-being.

Improved Mental Health:

Inner peace is a sanctuary for mental health. It provides a foundation for uplifting mental states, reducing the likelihood of anxiety and depression. By fostering a calm and balanced mindset, individuals can navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and clarity.

Spiritual Growth and Mindfulness:

For many, inner peace is intertwined with spiritual growth. It opens a path to self-discovery, heightened awareness, and a deeper connection with one's purpose in life. Inner peace encourages mindfulness, the practice of being fully present in the moment, leading to a more profound and meaningful existence.

3. Qigong Cultivation: Harmonizing Body, Mind, and Spirit

Increased Awareness of Qi:

Qigong cultivation involves the practice of ancient Chinese techniques designed to balance and enhance the flow of vital energy, or qi, within the body. Practitioners often experience increased awareness of this energy, fostering a deeper connection with their own life force.

Physical and Mental Benefits:

Regular Qigong practice contributes to physical flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. Mindful movements promote relaxation, leading to improved overall health. The harmonization of body and mind in Qigong cultivation creates a synergy that supports holistic well-being.

Qi Circulation and Healing:

As practitioners progress in Qigong, they often witness smoother circulation of qi throughout the body. This harmonious flow is associated with a sense of vitality and may contribute to pain reduction and enhanced healing. Qigong becomes a vehicle for holistic health and wellness.

Conclusion: A Journey of Integration

In the tapestry of life, good health, inner peace, and Qigong cultivation form a harmonious trinity. Each factor contributes uniquely to an individual's well-being, and together they create a holistic approach to health and happiness. By embracing these aspects of life, individuals embark on a journey of integration, fostering a balance that nourishes the body, mind, and spirit, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and enriched existence.

The year of dragon

Get ready to spread your wings because 2024 is gearing up to be the ultimate dragon year extravaganza, starting on February 10!

Legend has it that the heavenly god was in a bit of a time crunch, so he gathered 12 animals for a cosmic competition, making each animal a VIP for a year. It was basically the animal Olympics, and the dragon, being the absolute rockstar of mythical creatures, was all in.

Picture this: the mighty dragon soaring through the sky and cruising through the ocean depths. He's got the whole power and compassion package, and when he spotted a rabbit struggling in a river, he didn't just stand there – he out breathed his vital Chi/Qi, pulled a river rescue, and catapulted the bunny to safety.

But wait, there's more! As the dragon approached the heavenly gates, he discovered a crafty rat stowaway. Instead of giving the little trickster the boot, the dragon decided to play it cool. The rat, seizing the opportunity, hitched a ride inside the dragon and stealthily climbed onto the cow, who was slated for the top spot. Sneaky move, rat! So, the rat snagged the Number 1 title, while the dragon, delayed by his acts of kindness, snagged a respectable No. 5 right behind the rabbit.

Even though the rat technically snagged the gold in the animal year Olympics, the dragon remains the undisputed champion in people's hearts. In China, expectant mothers start preparing for dragon babies months in advance, resulting in a baby boom that outshines all other years.

If you're a dragon, embrace your powerful, generous, and leadership vibes. Dragons are basically the preferred ride for Guan Yin Bodhisattva and the ultimate protectors for kind-hearted souls.

Now, let's talk 2024 predictions – it's going to be a year of prosperity and transformation, with a dash of intense conflict and resolution when people can be as compassionate as dragon.

For all you dragon folks out there, it's your "original fate" year, so play it cool. Staying low-key is the name of the game, and chilling on the risky matters is probably a better call.

But fear not, fellow creatures of the zodiac! It's not just the dragons who will be riding high on good luck. The pig, rooster, sheep, horse, and snake are also in for a fantastic year, so get ready to party with the celestial animals in 2024! 🐉

Cultivation levels and different types of Qi

What can happen when one cultivates diligently?

The physical body is a composite of four primary elements:

Earth: Comprising bones, muscles, minerals, and more.

Fire: Representing body temperature.

Water: Involving blood and bodily fluids.

Wind: Signifying Qi movement.

Picture it as a net; when tightly entangled and closed, minimal light can penetrate. However, when all four elements loosen up, the true nature's illuminating light shines outward and inward, giving rise to two phenomena.

First level:

With this opening, the Shen consciousness (spirit) can transcend the confines of the body. For instance, one cultivator might venture to other places during meditation, while another may observe distant streets and people.

If a cultivator believes this to be enlightenment, distractions may ensue. It's essential to let them come and not misconstrue their significance.

Second Level:

As the illuminating light accumulates, a cultivator can look inside of the body. Once again, if a cultivator deems this experience as special, obstacles may arise.

There are six different types of Qi:

Hun魂- (Shen, Spirit) Yang Qi

Po 魄- Yin Qi

Yi 意 – movement Qi

Zhi 志 – calming Qi

Jin 精 – moisture -water Qi

Shen 神- dry -fire Qi

Through prolonged cultivation, a cultivator can hear teachings from the sky. These teachings were already stored in a person's consciousness, now merely opening up. Thus, there's no need for excessive excitement or the belief that this is something extraordinary.

What Should a Cultivator Do?

A cultivator should adhere to the principles of "不迷,不取,不动," which consist of three components:

不迷 (bù mí): This signifies not becoming lost or confused, whether metaphorically or literally, like not losing one's way or being misled.

不取 (bù qǔ): This means refraining from attachment or clinging to experiences or thoughts.

不动 (bù dòng): It implies remaining still or unchanging, maintaining steadfastness even in the face of external influences.

What Thoughts Should a Cultivator Think During Practice?

When it comes to thoughts, whether they are negative or positive, the ideal state is to have no thoughts. To achieve this, one can start to practice observing their thoughts including in life, eventually gaining mastery over their own mental processes.

Tao Te Ching #66

Tao Te Ching. - Chapter 66 emphasizes the importance of humility in our practice. It reminds us that when we hold our thoughts with arrogance or conceit, our minds become susceptible to straying from the path of true cultivation. Therefore, a Taoist strives to maintain a tranquil and uncluttered mind, refraining from comparisons and unhealthy competitions Hope these profound teachings can empower us on our spiritual journey.

Tao Te Ching #66

All rivers flow to the sea

because it lies beneath them.

Humility empowers.

To govern people,

a master positions herself lower than them.

To lead the people,

She must follow them.

The Master is above the people,

yet none feel oppressed.

She walks in front of people,

yet none feel obstructed.

The world delightfully supports her,

for she competes with no one,

and none can compete with her.

Autumn Wellness

Ancient wisdom emphasizes the significance of balancing our energy throughout the seasons. In spring and summer, it's the best to nurture our yang energy/Qi, representing vitality, warmth, and an outward disposition. As autumn and winter approach, focus on nurturing our yin energy/Qi, which embodies calmness, a feeling of ease, and fluidity. Autumn is the best season to heal lung conditions and grief related issues.

Autumn winds can create a desolate atmosphere in nature, leading to pessimistic and melancholic feelings. Therefore, people shall pay special attention to mental health. Engaging in healthy and recreational activities such as playing musical instruments, Qigong, calligraphy, painting, gardening, hiking in the woods or bird watching can help uplift the spirit.

1. Maintain emotional tranquility: First and foremost, keep your inner self calm and your mood cheerful. Share and release any sadness or grief proactively during the season change of autumn. At the same time, cultivate a peaceful and serene mindset, allowing your energy to flow.

2. Establish a regular daily routine: In autumn, it's advisable to go to bed and wake up early. Going to bed early aligns with the contracting nature of yang energy, while waking up early allows your lung energy to expand. Avoid prolonged periods of lying in bed, as it can deplete your vital energy.

3. Health maintenance considerations: Prevent excessive physical exertion, which can deplete yin fluids. Consume nourishing foods that replenish yin, such as Yin Er and red dates, lily and Goji berry, honey and walnuts, cornmeal, Asian pears and sweet potatoes.

Regarding your diet, try to minimize spicy foods like onions and ginger and include more sour fruits and vegetables to support liver health, such as sesame, honey, pineapples, and probiotic products, which are gentle on the stomach. Cooking porridge with lotus seeds, coix seeds, and dried lily can help cool down heat and moisten dryness. Other herbs are gentle and nourishing such as : Shan Yao, Mai dong, prince Ginsen etc.

May you have a happy autumn season!
